Paint a Fruit

Welcome to week 1 of my creative journal! Every week, i’ll be posting different activities and challenges for people to follow along with. This week, let’s start out nice and simple. Close your eyes, let’s travel back in time to your grade 9 high school art class…

Ok, open your eyes again, because you’re going to need them for this activity. Here is what else you will need!

  • Fruit of your choice (the model)
  • Glass of water
  • Paintbrushes
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paper towel
  • Newspaper or dedicated painting sheet
  • Paper or Canvas
  • Substance of your choice for extra inspiration (optional)

Now, if you’re like my boyfriend, you may be asking yourself:

“Why would you paint on a piece of fruit?”

— Zeke, Boyfriend (2021)

And to that I would reply…

“I’m not painting on a fruit, I am painting a picture of a fruit.”

-Sam, Me (2021)

BUT… Art is SUBJECTIVE, my friends. Therefore, go ahead. Paint on a fruit. I don’t care!!!

Anyways… I chose a banana. And this is how it turned out!
